A new hire employee at a large Marketing firm has doubled the workload for the person they are supposed to be jobsharing with on a remote basis.

The new starter was supposed to begin work at 9am on Monday

They didn’t appear until 10am. They said that they were there but didn’t want to disturb anyone.

The next issue was the company computer

We were already on a slippery slope with the start time, but when I loaded them up on the standard Asus Laptop they went quiet and queried what it was? When told it was a laptop to be used on, it wasn’t compatible with their internal systems.

After finding a tablet that was “compatible”, then the work could start

It turns out they had lied on the resume of what they could do and hadn’t a clue to use anything. I asked how they had the last job, they said anything after 2021 they struggle with. So at that stage, I had had enough and went to HR and said they had to go, they were late, poor communicators, for some reason they don’t know anything after 2021 and incompatible with work practises we have.

Human resources replied, It was a computer programme. And they are releasing it company wide next week.
